Pre-Removal Risk Assessment applicants from Israel. The applicants claimed to be at risk as an Arab-Israeli LGBT couple. IRCC rejected their PRRA application. We successfully appealed the decision to the Federal Court on the basis that the officer had refused to consider a news report of an “honour killing” in their family. The Court ordered IRCC to reconsider the application.
Study permit applicant from Iran. IRCC rejected her application finding that her study plan was not logical in light of her education history. We successfully appealed to the Federal Court, arguing that the reasons were insufficient to justify the decision, and the application was sent back to IRCC for reconsideration.
Refugee claimant from Albania. For a decade, he fought his case with the Minister at the Refugee Protection Division, who argued that he should be excluded from protection because of a criminal conviction. We successfully appealed the decision to the Federal Court on the basis that he was wrongfully convicted in his absence, and the RPD was ordered to redetermine his claim.
Citizen from Albania applying for a study permit. IRCC rejected it, stating that her study plan was not reasonable given her education history. She requested reconsideration which IRCC also rejected. We appealed both decisions to the Federal Court and overturned the rejection, the Court agreeing that the officer had ignored her explanation that the course of studies was more specialized than her previous education and necessary for her career advancement. IRCC was required to reconsider her study permit application.
Overseas sponsorship of conjugal partner from Saudi Arabia. IRCC refused the application on the basis that they did not meet the requirements of conjugal partnership, and the Immigration Appeal Division rejected their appeal. We represented them on appeal to the Federal Court, and the judge overturned the decision, agreeing that the officer and IAD had improperly considered their individual and relationship histories. Their PR application was returned to IRCC for processing.

I want to thank Christian Julien for the wonderful work he did for me and my family. He is a very intelligent, transparent and dedicated person in his work. Without a doubt, he is the best.
From the day my family and I started working with Christian Julian on our complicated immigration process, he has been humble, attentive and kind in dealing with our case. Christian is always responsive and goes above and beyond to help us understand the complicated immigration process and other regulations that had an impact on our case. With Christian, we always felt safe and very well taken care of! Our application for PR and then spousal sponsorship was processed with a great deal of attention to detail and extra care. The applications that were submitted were thorough and were never returned or delayed due to missing information/ documents or incorrectly filled forms. We cannot thank him enough for his diligence and professionalism!
I highly recommend Kingwell Immigration Law firm for any immigration-related legal representation anyone may require in Canada.
Our immigration case was rather peculiar. But, having been introduced to Daniel Kingwell at a later stage in the process, we have had nothing but outstanding, professional help in all our legal matters. The knowledge of Mr. Kingwell regarding immigration matters is second to none, and his team is truly amazing. Not only is Mr. Kingwell’s knowledge and experience extremely extensive, but how he makes his clients feel at ease is beyond anything that we have had the experience of dealing with (having met a whole tranche of lawyers, I can safely testify to that). I would recommend Mr. Kingwell for all immigration-related matters.
Thank you Daniel for doing a great job!!! My student visa application was refused two times and the Embassy ignored my third request too. Honestly, I was hopeless in 2019 and could not even imagine that someday the court would grant leave and my passport would have a visa on it. Everything happened because of Daniel Kingwell who prepared the best arguments and defended my case with great professionalism. I am so grateful for your support Daniel. I would recommend your firm to everyone who needs legal services because you guys deserve to be appreciated!
I highly recommend Mr. Daniel Kingwell for his exceptional legal expertise. Facing a complex situation, Mr. Kingwell provided clarity and support. His polite demeanour and reliability were evident throughout our interactions. He assured me of the strength of my case and diligently worked to secure its approval, patiently assembling all the documents. Mr. Kingwell’s honesty and integrity are commendable traits that instilled trust in his counsel. Additionally, his assistant, Naheed Sultana, played a crucial role in the process. Naheed’s quick and attentive responses to my inquiries demonstrated her dedication and professionalism. Together, they make an amazing and friendly team that gets the job done. Many thanks to Mr. Daniel Kingwell and Naheed Sultana for their invaluable service.

The Region of Waterloo Immigration Partnership connects newcomers with housing, employment, and community integration resources. Conestoga College and University of Waterloo International Student Offices help students with study permits and post-graduate work permits (PGWP). These local services, combined with professional legal support, ensure that immigrants in Kitchener have access to the resources they need to build a successful future in Canada.
Immigrants in Kitchener face unique challenges in securing status in Canada. Below are common hypothetical scenarios that highlight the importance of professional legal assistance.
Scenario 1 – Tech Worker Applying for PR
A software engineer working for Google, Shopify, or a local startup in Kitchener’s tech hub wants to apply for permanent residency but is unsure whether to use Express Entry or the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP).
They need our Canadian immigration lawyer to assess their eligibility, improve their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score, and ensure a successful immigration application.
Each pathway has different eligibility criteria, processing times, and requirements. A legal assessment is needed to determine which program offers the best chance for approval, ensuring all required documents are correctly submitted.
Scenario 2 – Study Permit Refusal
A Conestoga College student is denied a student visa due to insufficient financial proof. They need immigration help to appeal the decision or submit a stronger reapplication with proper financial documentation.
Our knowledgeable immigration lawyer will assist with gathering the required documents and addressing concerns raised by immigration officers.
Scenario 3 – Family Sponsorship for Parents
A permanent resident in Kitchener wants to sponsor their parents from India but is struggling with long processing times. Our experienced immigration lawyer will help them to explore alternative sponsorship pathways, Super Visa options, or appeal delays through the Immigration Appeal Division.
Scenario 4 – Refugee Claim at the Immigration and Refugee Board (IRB)
A refugee from Afghanistan or Syria arrives in Kitchener seeking asylum but is unsure whether their case meets the legal requirements for protection in Canada. The refugee claim process requires strong evidence, clear testimony, and proper documentation to demonstrate a genuine need for protection under Canadian immigration law.
Without legal guidance, missing details or procedural errors can lead to delays or a denied claim. We can ensure that all necessary documents are submitted correctly, prepare the claimant for their hearing, and present strong legal arguments before the Immigration and Refugee Board (IRB).
Legal representation helps clarify eligibility, address concerns from immigration officials, and improve the chances of a successful claim, offering the refugee the best opportunity to secure protection in Canada.
Scenario 5 – Work Permit & LMIA Challenges
A Kitchener-based company wants to hire a foreign worker but faces Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) approval issues. A top immigration law office in Kitchener can help the business with compliance requirements, avoid delays, and secure work permits efficiently.
Professional legal assistance ensures that immigration issues are handled correctly every step of the way. Whether you are applying for PR, visas, sponsorships, or refugee protection, working with an experienced immigration lawyer improves your chances of success.

Although you are not required to hire an immigration lawyer, oftentimes legal support helps avoid mistakes that lead to delays or refusals. Our lawyer ensures your Express Entry or Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) application is complete, addresses potential issues, and strengthens your case for approval.
If your PR application was refused, you may request reconsideration, file an appeal, or submit a new application. Our lawyer will review your refusal letter, identify errors, strengthen missing documentation, and explore options like Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP) or Humanitarian and Compassionate (H&C) applications for better approval chances.
Yes, a lawyer helps with appeals or reapplications after a study permit refusal. Many refusals result from financial proof issues, missing documents, or unclear study plans. Our legal support ensures strong documentation, proper explanations, and a well-prepared application to improve approval chances for Conestoga College or University of Waterloo.
Graduates from Conestoga College or the University of Waterloo can apply for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) to stay and work in Canada. Our lawyer helps with eligibility, documentation, and application submission. If ineligible, alternative options like employer-sponsored work permits or Provincial Nominee Programs may be considered.
Many employers require a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) to hire foreign workers, proving no qualified Canadians are available. Some exemptions exist, including Post-Graduation Work Permits (PGWP) and intra-company transfers. Our lawyer will help you determine if an LMIA is needed and assists employers through the process for approval.
